Dave Tipler , P. Eng., B.Eng. - Partner
After graduating from McMaster University with a degree in engineering, Dave Tipler joined the firm and has never looked back. Dave spent a year on site from 1988 to 1989 at One Toronto Street reviewing the structural construction of a 15-storey office tower and a 17 storey residential building with 3 levels of underground parking. The cost of construction was estimated at about 40 million dollars.

After returning to the office he integrated the knowledge gained at site into his structural designs. In addition, he developed computer design programs and computer programs for structural drafting that can still be considered to be state of the art today. He has designed 'big box' buildings, university buildings in the Middle East, and shopping centres throughout Canada. He developed the Canadian prototypical structural drawings for Wal-Mart stores currently being constructed across the country.

In 1997, he started work on a 300 million dollar renovation and expansion to the Chinook Shopping Centre in Calgary, Alberta. The project lasted more than three years. The Chinook Centre has become one of the most successful shopping centres in Canada. In 1998, Dave Tipler became a partner at Banerjee & Associates Ltd.

Gordon Kwan , P. Eng., B.A.Sc. - Partner

Gordon Kwan has been with the firm since 1988, after graduating from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Since that time, he has gained extensive experience in the field of Structural Engineering Consulting, working on projects in all areas of development and construction type.

Mr. Kwan has been a Partner in the firm since 1998. Currently he manages many major projects within the company, as well as developing new clients and opportunities. Some of his major accomplishments include the Downsview Training and Administrative Facility for the Department of National Defence, The Lindsay Correctional Facility for the Ontario Realty Corporation, The First Markham Place Shopping Centre for The Kerbel Group, the Masonville Place Shopping Centre for the Cadillac Fairview Corporation, and several laboratory buildings at the Connaught Campus for Sanofi Pasteur.

Amar M. Banerjee, B.E., M.I.C.E, M.I.Struct. E., P.Eng. - Founder

After completing post graduate study at the Leeds University, U.K. and after working for many years in both design and construction fields in many countries (England, India, Nigeria and the U.S.A.) Amar emigrated to Canada in 1968. Amar worked with a major Canadian Consulting Engineering Company as a design engineer for various projects, i.e. residential, (hi-rise) commercial, office towers, shopping centres and industrial.

Amar started the present company in 1980 and developed it to its present status as a well-known Consulting Engineering Firm in Toronto. At present, this company has projects in most of the provinces in Canada and its client base includes private developers, contractors, school boards, various municipalities, religious institutions, etc.

Amar is also very active in his local community of Unionville and a long standing member of the Markham-Unionville Rotary Club. Through his Rotary Club, Amar has raised funds for many charitable organizations, both locally and internationally.

Neil Banerjee, P.Eng., G.S.C. - Partner
After graduating from McMaster University with a Civil Engineering Degree in 1993, Neil Banerjee joined the firm as a design engineer where he worked on a variety of projects gaining valuable design experience.

In 1994, Mr. Banerjee joined PCL Constructors Canada Inc. to work as a field engineer on the Intercity Shopping Mall Expansion in Thunder Bay and remained with the company for seven years working his way up to the position of Project Manager in the Toronto District responsible for projects varying in size from $10 to $35 Million.

Mr. Banerjee returned to the company in 2001 bringing with him working knowledge of the general contracting industry and a practical outlook on building design. The Canadian Construction Association has recognized Mr. Banerjee with a Gold Seal Certification as a Project Manager, General Contracting.

Vishwas Dhekney, M.S., P.Eng. - Partner

Vishwas Dhekney has worked in the structural engineering field for over 30 years. After obtaining a Masters Degree in Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1970, he worked as Site Engineer for a construction company in Dallas, Texas. Thereafter he worked as a Structural Design Engineer for a light gauge cold formed steel products manufacturer in Dallas and leading consulting engineering companies in Dallas, Toronto, Calgary and Mumbai.

He has designed hangars for jumbo jets, factories for chemical, textile and pharmaceutical manufacturing companies, steel forging mills and water treatment plants. He has also designed residential apartment buildings, hotels, college buildings, office buildings and shopping centres. He has extensive experience in the restoration, rehabilitation and renovation of buildings. He has performed Condition Surveys of parking garages, balcony structures and wall cladding, put together specifications and drawings and conducted Construction Reviews, Project Management and Administration of scores of restoration projects.

Vish is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario and a Life Member of the Institution of Engineers (India).

 Darrell Sakauye, P.Eng, B.Eng. - Partner
Darrell Sakauye has been with Banerjee & Associates Ltd. since 1986 and in 1998 became Partner in the firm. During that time, he has gained extensive experience in the field of Structural Engineering, designing and managing projects throughout Canada.

Currently, Darrell manages many major projects at Banerjee & Associates as well as developing new clients and opportunities. Some of his major accomplishments include renovations and expansions at Bramalea City Centre in Brampton, Billings Bridge Shopping Centre in Ottawa, Conestoga Mall in Waterloo, the Pen Centre in St. Catharines, St. Vital Shopping Centre in Winnipeg and recently at Cambridge Centre in Cambridge.

He has successfully completed projects for major clients, including Morguard Leaseholds, Ivanhoe Cambridge, The Cadillac Fairview Corporation, 20 Vic Management, First Professional Management, the York and Peel Catholic District School Boards, Future Shop, Famous Players Theatres, Cineplex Odeon Theatres and TD Canada Trust.

Outside of work, Darrell is one of the head Judo instructors at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre and coaches hockey and baseball at the Goulding Park Association in North York.
